Ive seen a Faser 6.. the thunder cat engined one blow on first day of ownership..bought in the morning thrashed till that afternoon then bang.
As far as run in at factory.. yes... its gets a power test which will be something like.. does it make 100 hp in fourth at 8k revs for tens seconds..manufactures dont have time to waste playing around with thousands of engines.
I think if by running it in the way kwak say to.. was creating slow bikes or bikes that burned lots of oil because of poor ring to barrel seating.. their break in policy would be totally different..All bike makers give the same advice no matter what style of bike or engine CC..I believe they give the advice they are sure is best for you.
Its clear though that both ways can work.. so you can run your bike in.. safe in the knowledge that a bit of abuse will do it no harm from new.. but one engine in one bike can be better than another..tighter or looser say and its to allow for differences in the manufacturing process that you go through a run in procedure..just in case.
So I take the middle path I ride my bike with a bit of mechanical sympathy but i dont fuss about it and a few hundred miles come around quickly anyway.
