Another quick update after now having ridden it since installing the cut-down Akra, ZX6R front radial MC, Pazzo shorty leavers and the 1/5th Riflemans throttle insert:

Riflemans 1/5th Throttle insert: one of the most awesome mods I've installed so far! Personally for me it didn't take any 'getting used to' whatsoever! I've always been one of those people that just gets on a bike and rides it as well as I can and the throttle insert was no different, to be honest initially bimbling through town on the way to the better roads I forgot it was in there, with just tiny wrist movements needed to cruise about. When I hit the more open/faster roads is where it came into its own. Just a breath on the throttle and WOOMPH you're off, seems to open access to the power much faster yet still being just as controllable, I would recommend this mod to absolutely everyone!

2010 ZX6R front radial MC: As I already had the ZX6R Nissin callipers I wasn't expecting much as the brakes were already so good and really I was just adding the radial MC for 'bling' but I can tell you that the brakes are now even better. Feel is improved massively, there is more of a gradual/linear brake application whereas I found the stock MC to seem quite 'grabby'.

Pazzo Shorty Levers: For the brake side, I am very pleased, I only ever use two fingers anyway and this just makes more room for the rest of your fingers and prevents them getting trapped between the lever and bar etc. Feels good. The clutch however I am not convinced, doesnt really feel that comfortable and will take some getting used to but its not too bad. Certainly look better and just feel more solid and positive.

Cut-down Akra: Well, if you read above I wasn't that impressed with the noise, thinking that it was no louder than my 12 foot long Sato Racing slip on.....how wrong was I?! Its loud, its throaty and sounds epic! At tick over it purrs and seems quite sedate but add just a touch of throttle on load and it booms, sounds like a beast! While riding the wind noise and induction roar would match the exhaust and I couldn't really hear it much; now, its all I can hear! Very chuffed, will try and get some video footage soon so you can hear the noise.

Clear screen and screen bolt kit arrived so thats the next mod and a good clean  :icon_thumright:  :glasses9:

Time for a few more mods/upgrades/additions.  I use the excuse of the impending trip to the Pyranees which is only just over a week away, for my latest bits and pieces.  Some are trip specific and wont be staying permanently but some will  [whistle]

Excuse the pics, they were taken at low light levels on my phone which didn't have enough battery to use the flash  [wall]

Ok, so very simple but they look the part are carbon heel guards. Unfortunately they're already starting to scratch as I ride with my heels resting against them (heel guards, funny that  [rofl] ) but they're gonna be toast by the end of the trip...




Gave it a brief clean too but with no hose pipe its not easy!


Installed a Tribbo seat cover to help the Mrs. stop slipping/have more confidence on the back.  Also got a new Kriega tail pack, the US30.  Lovely bit of kit! Installed the fixings which look like this:


Though when you're not using them they can just fold in under the seat for when you have the single seat cowl on etc. though as the trip is only a week away I figured I'd just leave em out for now.  This is what it looks like packed (with a load of towels for show  :lol: )





Also fitted a Speedohealer in preparation for my new chain and sprockets being done this weekend. I'll report back on that once its done.

Couple more things added: (Again, excuse the pic quality, all taken on camera phone)

Smoked indicators and new rear plate, I think they look ace  :icon_thumright:




Garmin GPS cradle via a steerer tube RAM mount, which will also double up as a camera mount when I'm not using the GPS.


Stompgrip


New Renthal soft compound grips. I'm torn on these, I love the grey for the race bike type look but they don't really fit in with the rest of the bike (Though I doubt they'll be that light for long!)

Forgot about that! I'm going -1/+1 but the rear didn't turn up at the garage last week so they checked the stock rear and its in good nick so they fitted the -1 front and new chain and are gonna fit the +1 rear this week.

-1 feels like a nice improvement, doubt I'll really notice much more difference with the +1 but I might as well execute what I'd originally planned 8)

I can get a new 15 tooth sprocket handy from a friend, would this be going to low from the std front sprocket? Will your bike be a lot louder with the changes you are doing ? i know i did it on my old zx9r and it increased the volume from the exhaust because of the bike reving so much.

A 15 tooth front would be about the same as adding 5 to the rear, thats quite a difference.  It has made the bike louder yes, as you say the bike revs more relative to speed and therefore it is a bit louder, but you can just shift up and keep the revs down.

I know there are people on the US site that run 15s 'with no problems' though others say that it puts the chain through a far more acute angle and so wears the chain much quicker and stresses it more.  Personally I don't know for sure though.  :glasses9:
