rules for riding in europe
« on: April 11, 2012, 09:41:48 AM »

been trying to dig up info on what i and the bike need to have

the AA website is useful for general rules of the road type stuff for each country but not the specifics
http://www.theaa.com/motoring_advice/overseas/atoz.html

do i need to carry a bulb kit, do i need a hi-vi vest (or even a full jacket) do i need to have a GB thingy on the reg like you do in the car

anyone know anywhere that has an up to date list of that kind of stuff?

il be in holland and germany but it would be useful for all countries

I dont no if you have to but i do, a few bulbs and fuses dint take up much room and the same for a hi vis vest and as for the gb sticker they sell the ones on ebay that go down the side of the reg plate and there only a few quid   :icon_thumright:

I think a bulb kit is a legal requirement, but I never bothered in the past. Mind you if you are going to the land of garlic smelling frog eaters you
might be better off taking them  [rofl]

certain items on those lists are not compulsory if on a motorbike, like fire extinguishers for example. Just take the common sense items whenever I go into Europe, bulbs, hi-viz vest, first aid kit.

As from July though you also need to carry a breathaliser kit in France.  :occasion14:

Although they won't actually enforce it until November.....go figure :?:

We're going through part of France in September and will be taking breathalyser kits anyway, much better to be as compliant as possible incase we get caught doing something silly
