Ive just read this on another forum
Terry Calcott
24.08.71 - 28.04.07
Terry was one of those very rare people who was brilliant at everything he did, often to the irritation of his friends, but never begrudged as he always had a smile, a joke and an encouraging word.
Whether it was driving remote control cars (ranked 10th in the world at the age of 11), competition shooting or riding and racing on two wheels, Terry would impress with his skill and natural talent. On a whim he entered the world record motorcycle wheelie attempt in 2005 and won, significantly beating a record set by a professional stuntman, which had stood for 2 years. He has since stretched the record to a stunning 172.3mph, a record he still holds, and a huge achievement.
A highly regarded and talented carpenter by trade, a genuinely funny man and generous friend to all who met him, he will of course be missed deeply by the many people who were lucky enough to know him.
He leaves behind his son, Tommy (12yrs) and his daughter, Parris (9yrs) and of course all his family and friends.
His accident occurred while he was riding in Germany with his mates. Despite exhaustive attempts by his friends and the medical personnel at the scene to save him, his injuries were too extensive.
No-one can be blamed for his death, it was an accident - a series of small events escalating to a situation that out of all of us, Terry had the best chance and ability of rescuing, ironically had he been less considerate and raced for the gap he may have been ok, but Terry rarely took chances with traffic and never with the lives of others. As the German police pointed out; no other person was involved - something we know Terry would have been thankful for.
We are proud to have known him, and to have had him call us his friends.
