db sound level meter

hi guys got me a db meter off ebay, just need to know at what distance i need to hold it from the bike and at what rev's the engine needs to be at to get the reading same as they would at a trackday,

+1 on what Hammy said, apparently Sillystone use whatever method they feel like on a particular day, Have seen forum posts of bikes having passed at Cadwell with 102db but failing 2 days later at Snett with 109db.

Always warming your bike up fully can reduce readings quite a bit, now that you have a meter it would be worth experimenting to see what works best, you could try taking measurements from different positions and angles with the bike at different temps, if you are close to any limits then even the weather conditions and the location of the test could make the difference of passing or failing

ok thanks guys will try taking reading for all ways and see if the bike comes in under the max.

Passed at Silverstone, Snetterton with baffle in, havent risked it with baffle out


Full system is gonna struggle as its got even less rstriction with no CAT methinks...  :dontknow:
