Hi all,just your thoughts please. I am going to the south of france with some friends at the end of May for 5 days. They are going on blackbird,deauville and vfr750.Everbody i have spoken to say that i must be mad going on a 2005 zx10,aparantly I am going to find it very uncomfortable!? I dont ride big distances,just 100-200mls on a ride out in the summer. I am just taking basics in a big rucsack.I am insane,should i trade in for a busa,zx12r??

i know nothing about long trips on zx10 , as i havent done any on my 06 zx10 , BUT to trade it in for a 5day trip  not in a million years....................

Na mate the tens fine for touring the wife and i both have tens and ride to the nurburgring  at least once ayear from devon and there fine no probs  . Would take a roll bag or something you can strap to the back of bike and a tank bag instead of backpack did it once uncomfortable and can make you fatigue quicker but go for it just think of the fun when you get their

yeah i live up in cumbria and travel to france, germany etc every year two up with the wife, on a 04,09 and 2011 10R but not at the same time

I have done Germany every year since 2007 (more than once several years).
Have a Cargobag, no issues, 170+, far too much room and no aches.
Just get on and embarrass them when you get to the twisties

last may i went on my 09 zx10r, from thirsk north yorkshire, down to dover right through france down to the south of france,  then back round by italy switzerland austria germany  and belgium,
i went with 7 other lads, they were on all sorts of other bikes, but i wouldn't have swapped with one, at all,

my zx10r did everything and more, what a machine to cover the miles on, absolutely superb,
however i wouldn't take a rucksack, you would be better off buying what i bought, which is the kriega tail pack, what a superb bit of kit,
we are doing the same trip again this year. ime on the same bike, and i can't wait.

yeah man done a trip to the alps last year on my 04 and i found it ok, 2000 miles in a week not a problem at all, i ached a bit if i was on the bike for a long time but ive ached if ive been on my previous bikes for a long time.
so dont listen to anti sportsbike owners there just scared you will show them up 

one thing i done on the long trip down was took a tankbag to rest my head on full with cloths or anything soft and put my ipod in and the 8 hour motorway ride went in no time

done the pyrenees on a gsxr1000k6 and i'm over 6ft, the trip included one day of approx 700 miles and no aches or pains to worry about. not quite as comfy as my sprint st with gel seat but pretty good and fantastic on the twisties.. do it on the 10 and enjoy every minute of the trip when you get there

Trip will be no problem on the ZX10R.  As allready said, ditch the rucksack idea, your neck shoulders would be farked!   Get a tailpack & tankbag, it should be a great trip.

If you want comfort go in a car 

 The 10R will be fine and a lot more fun!!

2,500 over the alps last year, tail pack, small tank bag, sun, mist, rain, fog, snow.  I had an absolutely flippin' brilliant time on my '04.

Sure some bits of me got occasionally numb and it was quite physical but if you wanted comfort you'd ride a BMW tourer right?

Apart from travelling light as far as what you take with you, then no problem at all for me, but then i'm used to riding lots of miles, two up. If you ride lots then no different to doing the trip on any bike your used to.

You will be fine on a 10, I've done St tropez twice, one on my 1100L and once on a CBR400RR  . . . . if you not got hotel's sorted I can recommend Ibis, Urbis and La routier for being cheap and good, found everyone in France to be really friendly too, when I went on my CBR all the hotel reception staff came out to look at my bike, see that here eh?

done 2400 mile on my cbr1000rr 2006 harris clip ons etc etc not one problem at all perfect .
