2012 ZX10R or S1000RR
« on: February 14, 2012, 09:32:08 PM »

Hi,

I just sold my zx6 and I love Kawasaki , I'm thinking about new zx10r (test ride in 2 weeks time) but I must admit I also consider s1000rr. I don't trust newspapers, especially mcn, did anyone of you had opportunity to ride those two  bikes? What are your thoughts?

Tough old choice that fella, just ride them both and decide from there, magazine articles and word of mouth ain't a patch on the real experience.

Although you have asked for an opinion regarding a ZX10R on THE definative 10R forum......

I've not ridden the new 10r but the BMW is certainly an eye opener, I would think the customer service would be much better and it should hold its value slightly better as well, mind you I've been watching 'Whale wars ' on TV lately and whilst I'm no tree hugger I am beginning to avoid buying anything new that supports the Japanese !!  :icon_thumright:

I have one of the first 2011 ZX10R's in the country and I wouldn't touch another BMW as my ride again, no matter how good it was.

BMW traction control is ok, but not as smooth and cuts in too much.  Build quality on BMW is also questionable and Servicing, give my teenage brother a spanner and I'm sure he could do better.

Kawasaki may not be the quickest, but it is the smoothest, prettiest and best. iMHO.  What you see is what you get.

With K you won't be disappointed.  At least you get what you pay for... :-)

Well I can't comment on BMW bikes customer service but in the past I found the car side to be really good, I have experience with Kawasaki, both customer service and the service side (with 3 or 4 different dealers), I have found them both to be truly dreadful. I can list problems going back to 82' and my Z1000J right up to my 06 10R (least it was cheap) and in every case once I paid my money they showed no interest in any complaint I had . Pays ya money and takes ya choice but I would not buy another brand new Japanese bike.  ;-)

My mate traded inhis 09 ZX10 against an S1000rr, he regrets it big time.

He rekons the S1 is to smoothe and doesn't have the grin factor.
