what I do is mount my camera right behind the screen to do away with the wind noise also put a bit of Gaffer tape over the mic to help a bit more have a look at this video camera guality isn't the best because its just an old phone but the sound is bang on

I've seen them used a lot in MTB but usually with music replacing the sound of heavy breathing  :icon_thumright:

We used on on our Alps trip last year, using the waterproof housing that comes with it makes the sound sound-like its filmed under water, very strange but you still get the idea.  Without the housing the windnoise drowns everything out, and of course if it rains you're buggered.

I went for the DRIFT Stealth HD170. The picture quality is the same as the GoPro but it also has the option of adding an external mic which, after much research, is supposed to be great for wind noise etc as you can position it anywhere on the bike to tuck it up out of the way, near the exhaust, to get the best sound.  :glasses9:

have a look, thats with the waterproof back on the gopro hd,i've had allsorts of camera's but these are great and easy.To get better sound you put the back on that has 2 gaps in but then can put like muffler hair stuff on it to cut wind noise but waterproof back is better i think!gunna be using it for cadwell trackdays so bring april on....

GoPro is old tech now- all of the others use the same internals just with different software.
There's no way I would bother with a GoPro when to get decent sound you can't make it WP, you can't set it up without buying a separate screen, and you can't review it either.

Go have a good look round the Dogcam site. :D
I'd go for the HD Max Extreme - the internals were copied for the new GoPro Hd, you get the screen, ability for an external mic, rotatable lens, etc - everything the GoPro DOESN'T have!
