good for you pal, yes that'll be fine for you.

Saddles are a personal choice and many put 130mm saddles on because they look 'cool' where most have a medium sized arse i.e. 143mm

The conti tyres are great in summer but quite slippery in winter but they'll be fine until you get some speed up so are ok initially, there are huge choices for tyres though, Maxxis Advantage and Panaracer fire XC pro seem good to me for most conditions

My advice is to get out there and just enjoy it, as your weight drops and fitness improves you'll get to really enjoy it and will get those downhill adrenaline hits, perhaps by early summer  :icon_thumleft:

Enjoy pal  :occasion14:

:iamwithstupid: its all good mate ..as Andy says good on you  :icon_thumright:
its a good place to start it looks ok for a good first bike.
you don't want to start buying new bits just yet tho ....you may not get on with it all -and then just end up with an expensive ornament in the garage collecting dust  :dontknow:
but if all goes well and you love it ..then you can start looking at all the goodies ..

Hey, have you seen the Yeti 575's and the ASR7  :occasion14: [rofl]

Be aware that if you become addicted, as I certainly am it can cost a small fortune as there are companies such as Yeti, Orange, Santa Cruz, Endura, Hope and DT Swiss and and and ................... they all empty your bank account in double quick time ha ha

Enjoy it !  :headbang:

You're dead right Andy, speaking from personal experience it is lotsa fun, the only problem is getting the fitness, which i have now lost again 5 years gone :crybaby2:

Ah the sweet memories of the first few energetic attempts at mountain biking, leaving me retching & heaving trying to catch my breath as if i'd just inhaled a whole cloud full of acid, from a terrorist attack.

yes, getting the fitness is really hard work and takes a lot of determination but is well worth it in the end but perhaps 6 months to a year of hard work brings its rewards  :hello2:
I notice the fitness falling away slightly after just 2 weeks off on our summer hols    ............

Yep only takes about 2 weeks lol to notice it, that's what makes it kind of worrying & addictive too knowing for a fact that if you leave it for more than 10 days or so how crap you're gonna feel again  [rofl]

2 weeks is enough to take the edge off it ha ha ha ha

It's bloody brilliant fun though, as they say 'no pain, no gain'

Panaracer fire XC pro are what I use as they work well in just about all conditions and dont seem to puncture as easily as some of the others I have tried, you will always find when you do get a puncture you are as far away from the car/van or home as you could be!
