Great review of CSS and I couldn't agree more! I went with a mate in August also, it was held at the Silverstone Stowe Circuit which didn't look too challenging until the end of the day which left me knackered both mentally and physically, totally fried!! After the day I also realised I had 20+ years riding the wrong way and left the circuit with a lot of homework too do!! Trying to ride correctly inline with CSS teaching took mega concentration for me but I felt a huge improvement at the end of the day. I asked my instructor how to translate the teaching to my everyday riding and he said just concentrate on 1 of the 5 drills at a time each time you go out. I've tried this on the precious few dry days here in jockland and hopefully I am keeping the skills from getting too rusty until the opportunity to do level 2 next year. That being said I would happily do level 1 over again, I got loads out of the day and it was worth every penny. I had one great ride out after the track day when everything just felt bang on, my cornering has improved vastly as has my confidence. I now feel I want to push myself more when on the bike so have decided to do it on track and have picked up a 2000 zx6r for the price of one CSS day, which will by spring time hopefully roll out of the shed as a track bike. Fololwing the CSS Andy, the mate I went with, has now popped his track day riding and knee down both as a result of the CSS and a wee bit of tuition from a mate. I am now a believer and disciple of the CSS religion, the day at silverstone was an epiphany moment for me and funds permitting I'll be back to work through the levels. The staff there really do listen to you and strip your riding right back and build it up again a bit at a time. In short if you want to improve your track and road riding don't buy every bolt on goodie, book CSS. By the way, I don't work there and aint plugging for business, I just really found it that good.
