Back on a 10R at last!
« on: September 06, 2011, 09:11:47 AM »

Hi everyone.
Just thought I'd say hello.
After nearly six years of absence I'm finally back on an 05' ZX10R and it feels good.
I got my first 10R new in 05', it was black and completely bog standard. I spent the summer doing a few trackdays and really loved the bike - thought I'd keep it for years but then I ended up moving to Australia for work and didn't see the point of the bike gathering dust in the garage for two years so it had to go. Turned out I was away for five years so probably a good decision.
In October 2009 I was looking to move back to Bonnie Scotland and was thinking of getting a BMW S1000RR. I remembered how much fun I'd had on the 10R so decided to save a few bob and find a nice 05' model as I still believe they're the best model for my type of riding. I eventually found an extremely clean one on Ebay and got it for quite a bargain price. It's got a MotoGP paint job and a host of trick bits fitted, a bit too blingy for me but it was a good starting point.
Since then it's had a Akrapovic full system fitted and a pair of Kent Cams. I also stuck an Ohlins in the rear while the engine was out. I got it back from the dyno at the weekend and it's going great. 175bhp at the back wheel is pretty good but the spread of power is amazing, loads of power at any revs - superb.
Now I need to get my brain up to speed and learn how to ride the thing again, so pleny of fun to be had before winter kicks in.
As I said - it feels great to be back on a 10R  [clap]
Plans for the the winter - K-tech internals for the front and possibly a pair of carbon wheels.

Hi Jak,
I'm in East Kilbride just south of the city.
Roads up to Fort Willian are all very busy these days, you need to head further up if you want to ride without caravans and tourists on BM GS's riding at 40mph!
