hi chaps ive finally booked my trip to the alps on the 10th September ive just got a bit of a niggle with my bags connection cargobag, ive put the standard number plate holder back on and tried my cargobag on and when i tighten the straps the plate holder moves because its only made out of plastic, now its not a problem moving but im just a bit paranoid it will break  :shock:
has anyone else had this little problem? as always chaps any feedback is greatly appreciated  :icon_thumleft:

I did a week across the Alps in June, it was the best thing I've ever done in my life, you are going to love it!  :occasion14:

I used an Oxford tail pack and a small 7 litre magnetic tank bag.

The tail pack was strapped around the passenger seat, and then bungeed to the rear footpegs and the other bungees pulled tight under the tail unit and hooked to each other.

Make sure you pad out protect any part of the bike that is touched by the luggage.  A small bit of inclement weather and the tiny movements will have the luggage acting like sandpaper.  My seat unit took a bit of a beating and needs some good products and elbow grease to restore it.

If your luggage is strapped down evenly you'll be suprised how little force it needs to stay on the bike. A lot less than you'd think! :)

with good advice on this forum i didnt need to extend the rear one and didnt budge in the pyrennees in 3 figure speeds ( kph  :glasses9:) . I still took to much next year ill be taking even less . Have fun

thanks for the replies chaps sorry i have been a bit busy lately hence the reason why i havn't been on here  :emb:
i think ive sorted my problem now but i do have a question for crownan all i would like to know is what sort of mileage did your zx10r do to a tank?
when i done the Pyrenees last time i was on my r1 and we started looking for fuel after about 80 miles witch as whey to low, the only reason we did this is because sometimes the fuel stations in France can have quite large distances between them
as always any feedback is greatly appreciated  :icon_thumright:

Hi,

It varied depending on the type of riding we were doing (obviously lol)

On the first and last day we pretty much did around 3-400 miles of motorway cruising at about 80-100, with a bit of mucking around as we went and I saw just under 150 miles before the reserve light came on!

When we were hooning it over the mountains up the switchbacks etc it was around 100 or so before the light came on. Apparently you should have around 30 miles in reserve so it was actually pretty good on the fuel consumption, even when hammering it  :hello2:
