Just over 100 miles a day, hail, rain, or snow.  So a lube every two days is a must, each day in really wet weather, the spray around the wheel and swinging arm scours every bit of oil off the chain.

Had been using Wurth dry stuff, but swapped to lube form a scot oiler i have never used, used sparingly does the trick and after having taken time to clean the waxy stuff off the chain it has improved the look a bit too

I lube the chain with Motul chain lube once every 2 weeks...sprayed to the inside part of the chain and lube the entire chain (after cleaning all the crud off) with good gear oil once every 2-3 months depending on how frequent I ride. No worries at all.

What do you think the Scotoiler lube is?
EP is used by most of the race teams regardless of what the sponsor decals are on the bike.
Remember you are ONLY lubricating the the outside of the rollers on the sprockets - the rest is protected by O-rings and sealed.
OE chain using EP was changed at 20k ONLY because the swingarm was. It's still under the bench and perfectly serviceable.




which race teams? most use a dry PTFE lube ...
All the cans are doing is making it "user friendly" to the majority of weekend racers - squirt and forget.
EP needs the excess wiping off when the chain is cold which let's face it - how many here would go back into the garage to do that after a ride out?
All of the super dooper sticky/no fling sprays will grab road grime and form a paste UNLESS you clean it off properly BEFORE you lube it again. Every 2 days is excessive too unless your covering 150-200 miles plus a day.

Wurth dry lube every 400 miles as I mainly ride in the dry, I will come back from a ride degrease the chain whilst it is still warm with Wurth chain and brake cleaner, wash the bike, go for a little ride (few miles) to warm the chain again and re-apply the dry lube.

I use a Ketten Max with the light oil that comes with it. I was always under the impression that the oil was for keeping the o rings supple.  In the good old days before sealed chains I used stick the chain in a tin of wax and melt it on the cooker.  Oh such joy

Ah, the joys of a chain simmering on the cooker, and bike bits sprayed with VHT baking in the oven, the good old days.

Engine oil, any grade I happen to have in the garage, but 30 grade lawnmower oil at the mo. Will fling but not much if you wipe the chain before riding. Have managed 24K on a chain before now. Occasionally clean with GT85 before oiling again

hi guys i went for the wurth dry lube in the end, i gave the chain a good clean then sprayed on the lube think i went over the chain twice.
now how do i know when it needs doing again as at the mo it looks like theres nothing on the chain, will it start to get dirty and black ?

It shouldn't, I clean and lube mine every 400 miles as I only ride in the dry, if your riding in the wet I would say do it once a week and clean it once a month.

That reminds me mine is due a clean and lube.
