Question re rider/driver weight in motogp vs f1
« on: June 28, 2011, 09:02:21 PM »

Why is it that F1 drivers weight IS taken into consideration along with their car whereas rider weight IS NOT in motogp etc???

Surely, if anything, you would think it would be taken into consideration in bikes as the the power to weight is probably a lot more advantageous to be a little wee pedrosa????

It,s to do with the aerodynamic skirts which create downforce in F1 cars. The measurements taken from bellypan to floor have to take into account the drivers weight.

In F1 they take total weight, as less weight is better, otherwise the teams would all put light weight woman drivers in there cars [rofl]
Bikes, a lighter rider has a better power to weight ratio but less weight to move around in the corners   :hello2:
