« on: May 16, 2011, 01:35:16 PM »

hi bit of a newbie here have a zx10r on an 05 plate compared to my 1999 r1 and fz1 the zx seems to be more of a vibratty bike as fairings seem to rattle or vibrate seems worse at 50 60 mph when you throttle back off think someone said vebrate they call it has had a service at 13k and i asked the shop to give it a test but they seem to think all is ok so maybe might be me as being a new zx owner

There was a bit of a common issue on 04/05's around the front fairing which would vibrate/buzz against the supporting brackets either side of the ram air scoop. The vibration/buzz can be reduced or removed completely by the addition of small foam pads between the fairings and brackets. Not sure if this is what you're experiencing but sounds like it could be. You'll know whereabouts the fairings are vibrating because the paint will show signs of wear.

The two forward pointing arms on the fairing stay are what causes a lot of the vibes. I had lots of buzzing from the front fairing on my 05 and as I say, some foam sticky pads stuck between the bracket and fairing inner surface made things much better, almost silent.  :icon_thumright:
