What was Big Ears Mum called....No seriously, here's my Noddy question. If a road bike were taken to the track would the road tyres (namely Bridgestone Hypersport tyres) benefit form the use of tyre warmers. Obviously it would heat them up which has to be of benefit but will there be any negative effects on them as they are different compounds, construction etc?  Are there any reasons to avoid use of tyre warmers with these tyres?

Any warmer tyre is better than a cold one. Yours just take longer to get warmer, tyre warmers wont affect them in any way IMO but im sure someone will tell me if im wrong

Road tyres will warm up quicker than track tyres if you dont use warmers. Like has been said, a warm tyre is better than a cold one. In use tho, a track tyre will dissipate the heat quicker than a road tyre so is less likely to overheat during the session. If you ride hard on track with a road tyre you can run the risk of them getting too hot as the session goes on in which case you might be better off doing a couple of warm up laps (never a bad idea anyway) and not bothering with warmers. Depends how hard you're gonna push em. In short, no idea mate!

Rode Cadwell this evening, took my '09 ZX6R. The BPF's are sublime as are the brakes as standard, easier to ride around Cadwell than my 10 but I did miss the power entering the straights.....Anyway, the tyres. Bridgestone OEM on the bike, dropped both tyres to 30 psi and used tyre warmers, no problems. The bike felt more "accurate" on road tyres with the only area where front grip felt dubious (either twitchy or "tall") was going around Charlies, I don't hang about there, I carry lots in...I was impressed with how well the road tyres coped and how little they wore. Makes me wonder if I really need everything my racetecs offer me thought the front feels more grippy, its the mental advantage that is the confidence boaster. To anwser my own question, no problems using tyre warmers with road going tyres, it was top and I enjoyed the night.
