Cadwell Corno day
« on: March 22, 2011, 07:54:28 PM »

Hi there just got back from a very warm cadwell track day today.

Its a new focused event thing you run your normal groups until 11 am . In this time you have a transponder fitted to your bike do a couple of sessions they get your time and stick you in appropriate groups.

Got put into group 3 fast group asked bloke what my time was he said we will email all the times through in next couple of days but he said i had done a 1.40 ?? . I think i got quicker in the afternoon but only managed 3 of the 4 sessions i was fooked !!!!!

Is this a decent time ? i cant find any info on what peoples times are around Cdwell as lap timers are usually frowned upon.

I even have sunburn on my neck

Roll on Snetterton 11th April  :downtown:

Thats a bloody good time Lee  [clap] a consistent 1.40s lap would have placed you in the top 10 in the bemse rookie championship at Cardwell in 2010, I would love to consistently get below 1.55  :-(

I have a mate that won the rookie championship with bemse 2 years ago and his times were around the 1.38/1.39 mark, he now does 1.36s and runs top 10 in the mro powerbikes, another friend runs 1.35s and he is usually top 6.

Peter Baker and Phil Crowe swapped lap records last year in the Thunderbike GB series doing 1.31s and Phil finally ended up with a 1.30.9, Peter is multible mro champion and Phil Crowe is the 2010 Thundernike champion and both very rapid around Cadwell.

WEDGIE: THATS MINT! 1min 40 is classed as a bit of a benchmark time there, well done.

As has been said low 1.50s would be seen as acceptable by many guys.

Look up the BSB national superstock times on google and you will see what the zx10 is capable of round cadwell in stock race trim.

And if you take a look at my cadwell post in this section, you'll see my bro just managed a 1.39.5 in one of his races this weekend. The top guys in that race were doing 1.34 to 1.38. You should see them from trackside.. its impressive. Based on that you'd only have to find another 2 seconds to be classed as a NUTTER! [clap]

dont know if it still holds, but Steve Hislop held the lap record on a Ducatti in 2003 with 1:24.883 (2.17 miles)

1:40 is obviously phenominal on a near stock bike :headbang:

Hislops lap record was prior to the chicane being added early 2004 after Kagayama's crash in 03, he almost lost his life in that crash and the chicane was added to slow the bikes down between mansfield and the mountain section, the current lap record is from the 07 bsb round and is held by Leon Haslam and is 1.26.081

Thanks for the correction M8, prob adds a few seconds to lap times, still a superb ride by Hislop though, one of my favourite all time riders  B-)
