Need To replace my tyres, Wet & Dry
« on: February 04, 2011, 10:37:52 PM »

Hi Guys

Need to order a set of tyre's for my bike and looking for the general consensus on whats the tyre of choice for my 2009 ZX10R.

Most riding will be dry road and odd track day use, so I would appreciate the advice.

Currently have the standard OE Pirelli Corsa's on, but rear has puncture in it.

Cheers  :icon_thumleft:

2CT's are very good in the wet BUT they give very little feedback.
RR's are almost as good in the wet but give miles of feedback and are far grippier.

I may be slightly out of touch on tyres  [pray]

What are RR's, last ones I knew of were the Dunlop 207 RR's  :headbang:

The front Corsa on the bike is fine, so could realistically just swap out the rear but i'm looking to change as been running Pirelli's for years, so looking for recommendations.

I'm not fussed about being cuaght out n the rain or riding the bike in the rain but looking at the lack of water displacement tread on some of these tyres, I would appreciate people views on a good dry road/track tyre with confidence inspiring abilities in the wet too  :headbang: Is there such a tyre ha ha, I know the Corsa's are pretty capable in most conditions,

Thanks in anticipation

Dunlop Qualifier RR's - the next step up from the standard Qualifiers and the aftermarket version of the oe Qualifiers Kwack put on the 10.
Best tyre I've used and over 6k from a rear and good enough to stay on Kevs rear for 2 germany tours as well as the mileage there, back and hooning here.

Never used to be much of a fan of Dunlop, but Qualifier 11's worked well for me in the past and I'm now trying the new Sportsmart. Too early to say about mileage, but wet or dry grip is very good and there is a good feel from the tyres  :icon_thumleft:

Will keep you posted on mileage  :-S

i have an 05 zx10r and have just done 1500 miles on Dunlop Sportsmarts over the last 4 weeks - sun - fog - rain - they have a great feel and show no signs of wear - recommended  B-)

Agree, have these fitted too, just need to see how good they are on a track day.
Have the Ring trip end of June, that should be a good test  :headbang:

I just put these on and so far they feel ace: (Apart from the wet blossom on the roads this morning which made my pooper twitch with the slide and slapper that followed a 3rd gear rolll on  )

Replacements for the Corsa III

Alternative was these but they werent in stock otherwise I would have tried them:

Probably be my tyre of choice for next time.

I have Diablo Rosso Corsa's on both R6 and new R1, grippy......a bit too much feedback (progressive slides on the R1) but forgiving. I have gone through a rear in 2500 miles, 1000 of them were running in!
