Ive been impressed with some of the kit my guys have been wearing on tour.
Especially like the quick drying "base layer" type shirts.

Can anyone give me recommendations/tips as I'm looking to buy something better than the t-shirts Ive been wearing (been absolutely drenched in the hot weather this year).

So what should I look for in a shirt like this?
Seamless?
Long/short sleeve?
Material?
Specific make?

What do you guys use?
Be very interested in your opinions on this coz the amount of time I spend on the bike comfort is a big factor.

in all honesty kev I dont think anything would have kept us dry from that heat this year 

42 degrees C and full leathers are not the best combo to keep cool

I got a set of  "Knox dry inside" towards the end of the track day season, only worn them in september and november so cant comment on how well they wick away moisture untill spring/summer arrives.

Got the long sleeve top and long john bottoms on the reccomendation of a racer mate, he said he found it easier to get out of his leathers between races with the long sleeve top, with the short sleeve's you still have bare sweaty skin in contact with your leathers, which seemed to make sense so thats what I choose.

Try searching for a base layer review on the mcn site, I remember seeing one there some time ago.

It kinda makes weird sense to wear a long sleeve base layer under biking gear in summer (despite the heat).
Even with a t shirt the sleeves tends to ruck up so I can see a long sleeve being the better option.

Mountain bike/ cycling gear is spot on.. its long in the arms and also longer in the back than the front, which means it fits well in any sort of riding position. There is much more choice too. If you go to a good mtb shop (not a national chain store) you might get some good advice from someone who's often out in all weathers. last track day i did at oulton in a gap in the weather 3 weeks ago I had an "Endura" long sleeve top under my leathers and I was just right all day!

that's an MTB top and a good one pal, most of the MTB stuff  is good value and does wick well albiet trapped under leathers is a problem, personally I ride the MTB with decent tops with side vents in summer and then in winter stick a cheap base layer underneath

Did anyone see the gadget show last night?
They reviewed/tested the Under Armour thermal base layer.
OK, its the "Heat" rather than the "Cold" I need but interesting non the less.
Anybody used the Under Armour stuff?
(ps. Just seen that Leon Haslam uses this stuff  )

  They have a good website, looks great.

I use a lot of their t-shirts as gym kit - well made and the wicking capabilities are spot on
