Is it fair though Andy?
Old fart nearly kills 2 people leaving them with broken legs and gets to drive away whilst the biker merely twisted the wrist slightly and hurt no-one but has his arse handed to him.

getting well dodgy out there now, dead easy to loose ya licence, but we all know that.

Only  basic info posted on the 3 guys who got nicked. maybe the biker already had points, maybe the old fella had been driving with an unblemished record for 40 years, all taken into consideration I'm sure.

On what we've been told :-

Drug dealer got the worse, and for the worse crime.

Old gezzer had an accident,  lots of people have them and if it wasn't intentional or because he was driving / riding like a twat, then I sssume he was done for driving without due care,. 8 points is a lot and the fine would have been proportional to his earnings, if any.

Biker choose to do what he did,  surely that's worse than the old fella having an unintentional accident.  Fine would have been based on his earnings.

Nah, dont agree! Drug dealers destroy lives. He'll be out in 4 months.
Old folks who continue to drive when they know they shouldnt destroy lives too.
Has ANYONE on this site NOT exceeded 116mph on the road?
Ive never been to prison but ive lost my licence for a year before and its no picnic!

Drugy might get out in 6 months if he's lucky,  although hope he does'nt

Old people have accidents and so do young people. not sure what you call old, but I've no doubt you'll fink I'm old if you meet me. There are also young folks who are crap drivers / riders and think they know it all, but don't.  If the old gezzer was considered to be unfit to drive,  DVLA can revoke his licence, just as they can anyone wotever age.

I lost my licence when i was younger ! never been to prison but have been banged up in police cells a few times. Prison whould wreck my life more so than being being banned.

and NO COMMENT to the speeding,  I'm not going to admit that now am  I, on an open forum ( advantage to getting older and wiser)  but i am more than capable of doing over 116 frequently.

To be old and wise, you have to have been young and stupid first.

Time and place for stuff, if I do silly stuff I know the risk and I take as much caution as I can, seems to have worked in 16 years driving/riding career.

116Mph down a single carriage way with any sort of obstructions (juction, drives, pavement, people, field access, poor road condition) your asking for trouble.

Were as a straight dual carriage way were you can see for for miles, no one about, no cameras or junctions in a national speed limit area, then I would call that game.

Yep, time and place. I got stopped in 1991 doing 110 on a dual carriage way, traffic copper called me a dickhead and gave me a short lecture but due to the good conditions and the fact it was 1 am I was let off ! , look at the story in this weeks MCN, group of riders out together, one pulls a wheelie and looses control killing himself, other 4 are arrested in dawn raids , in court they are all given a ban, made to take an extended re test , a suspended jail sentence and a large fine  !! WTF? Sell drugs outside a school and you wont get half of this. This country is up the creek

The trouble is with this debate, is, although there are set punishments for various crimes and misdemeanors, it is all too often left to the discretion of the Copper, or the Magistrate.......Magistrates are only able to use guidelines and along with the evidence presented to them, they make their decision on punishment........and this is often very inconsistent (and shit) throughout the land.........and if catching speeders or bikers is flavour of the month, or a particular magistrate dislikes motorcyclists, then the penalty will be a harsh one.

We know that 130mph is like fuck all in certain circumstances, but these people on the bench have never had any experience or exposure to modern bikes and high speed and think that 100mph+ is like warp speed, and cannot comprehend it, therefore thinking it is absolutely wreckless.  All you can do is go to court well prepared, with a sensible and repentent attitude, in a hope to minimise the penalty.......and watch as the scum of society continue to get wrapped in cotton wool and given more benefits from the tax payer to pay their fines.
