zx10r ...or r1 ?
« on: April 19, 2007, 06:14:33 PM »

hello all ,just found this site after being on zx10r.net but u guys are closer to home [northern ireland] im sorta torn between the 10r and r1 ...both crackin bikes,i have an 05 z1000 but fancy another rip at a sports bike before old age gets the better of me !...ive heard the 10r is a real handfull but surely cant be any worse than an r1 or fireblade, any advice about 10r ??? one other thing in favour of 10r is that every bugger has a gixxer or r1 or blade !!

Welcome to the site matey, can't comment on either bike as I've not had a go on them.

Test ride is the only way, but you know you want a Kwaka really don't you  :icon_thumright:

I have ridden a 99 R1 and I have ridden a 2004 R1 and I have ridden the 04 10R so I have a good feel for the 3 more the ten than the others....  :icon_thumright:

Mate if you want a machine that does what it says on the tin go for the R1 its fast its an excellent all rounder and its beautiful......

if you want something to always thrill you and give you a buzz then go for the 10R

yes the 10R is a bit twitchy but nothing a decent set of tyres and a good suspension setup can't fix.... tyre 200 quid sussy setup between 20 and 80 quid depending where you go......

The 10R is just more than a bike........

don't get me wrong the R1 is amazing but just didn't thrill me like the ten does..... oh and the 10R has the most aggressive power delivery give you the best rush  :icon_thumright:

I have to agree with G.....

I bought the 10R because it looks so damned nice, it's a classic already

I also bought it becasue I knew that I would never need all the power available on any of the 1000 bikes anyhow so choice really came down to how the bike looked and affected the nice feelings in my brain.

The thing with the Kawasaki is that on the 04/05 the way the power is delivered does feel quite vicious and is almost addictive and again as G says the suspension/tyres have to be set to match alse you get all wobbly, well it can weave a bit. However, with a bit of setup or a sterring damper everything is sorted for a few quid.

I never even took a test ride, I never do, I just buy what I like, my riding isn't so brilliant that I would notice much difference, same with cars I just buy what I like, bollocks to everyone else it's my choice afterall. However, I do take time for research to ensure that other peoples opinions and experiences are accounted for just like you're doing here  :icon_thumright:

Finally, I have no regrets on buying the 10R none whatsoever  :icon_thumright:
