Radar detectors
« on: November 20, 2010, 08:34:17 AM »

Anybody got one fitted?
Whats your set-up?
How much did it cost?
Got any pics?

If you're not 100% about posting stuff up on a public forum you can email me - kevin@wheeltrax.com

I'm looking for something thats going to be very unobtrusive (maybe just a warning light somewhere in the dash area) and that doesnt break the bank.

(btw I want a "true" detector not a fixed site warning system like the Datatool Inforad)

That'll be ok as long as they make sure the uk/us bands are turned on/off - otherwise everytime you go past a shop it'll go off when it picks up the door sensors, etc.
Remember - you'll need to remember where the fixed ones are too as there's no gps.

More confused than ever after spending hours searching the web  [wall]

So far looked at models from:
BEL (or Beltronics)
Whistler
Cobra
Micro Fuzion

Anybody have any experience with any of these manufacturers?

(Hammy - The static cams give off a signal too my good man. If its a decent unit they'll be picked up like any other speed trap).

Only prob (as far as I can see) is that inforad doesnt detect mobile speed traps.
I believe (and i stand to be corrected here) it just stores all the static sites and give you a warning as you are approaching them.
Or have I got it completely wrong?
