track day accident- compensation
« on: October 31, 2010, 04:30:23 PM »

Hi guys. Would like to know your view in this subject. Went on the track day, where during one of the first lesions I scratched another bike. Nothing serious few minor scratches on side panel and crack in nose cown. Crack approx 1cm. Because I'm a decent bloke I said I will contribute in repair of the damage. Now bloke sent me an estimate for almost 500 quid from some fairings repair centre. For 8 hours of labour forty odd quid each and deals for almost 90 quid!!! Is it just me or its a piss taking?
Would appreciate your opinion. If u agree or not.
Cheers

very nice of you to offer to help pay for the repair but tell him to go swival

he is taking the royal piss out of you

as pointed out its a track day and accidents happen, hence why insurance companies won't insure trackdays, you owe nothing to him

He's right you know, he shouldn't be on there if he's scared of scratching it.

Don't do it , everyone knows the risks. What would have happeded for example if you'd dumped oil on the track and a dozen bikes crashed on it?
As you've offered to contribute to the repair already, don't go back on your word, tell him you'll pop a tube of superglue and a zx10r sticker in the post to him. That'll sort it.

 :iamwithstupid:

was this a garage incident or track incident (not that it makes a lot of difference tbh) but if it was my fault through total neglegence or acting like a total tw@ on track or even dropped something onto his bike then i would offer some kind of comp.but if i then recieved a quote to fix his bike back up with ridiculous quotes the he can just go fuck himself.

500 quid for a bit of paint/fibre galss, plastic welding? tell him to go fuck himself.

they were'nt carbon fairings by chance  [rofl]

If I was in his shoes, I would be grateful that you offered to pay towards fixing it.  Everyone knows that trackday damage is a risk the owner takes, regardless of fault.  If some dickhead took me out through being wreckless, then I might feel different if my bike was totalled, and would want his balls on a plate, but the reality is that there are no rules when it comes to trackday incidents.

Its only some small cosmetic damage FFS.  He should be grateful for your contribution, and take it on the chin.
