Pedal Power
« on: October 28, 2010, 04:31:46 PM »

After some advice from the mtbr's here....

I'm looking to buy a new mountainbike for a mixture of road & off-road...seen a damn good deal on the MONGOOSE TEOCALI COMP (2009 model)

It's a more than I was planning to spend, but at 700 (35% off) it's tempting.

Any recommendations on other bikes in this bracket?

its not a bike that I'm familiar with but they do have good rewiews  :icon_thumright:

the boardman bikes like chris has bought really are great value too  :icon_thumright:

For under a grand there is a lot of choice albeit a lot depends on the sort ofriding that you are looking to do really and if its more street than off road a front suss might be better and you'd geta really nice bike with good components for under a grand

if you are looking at more off road then full suss is better albeit this prices can get silly

anyhow, for reviews on anything mtb look here

http://www.bikeradar.com/

these often have good bike offers and remember that 2011 bikes are out now so 2010 bikes can be sold for good prices, just make a cheeky offer  :occasion14:

:icon_thumright: Cheers Andy.... aftre posting that & reading up I came to the same conclusion bout getting a hardtail with good components...

I'm mainly going to be on the roads, and cross-country...but no major of road drops or ought.

Top of the list is the: Specialized Rockhopper SL  -- solid bike, good components, very good reviews & ratings

http://www.evanscycles.com/products/specialized/rockhopper-sl-2010-mountain-bike-ec020001

Will check out the Boardmans  :icon_thumleft:

not sure Dave as I'm not that fast, trying to plan for much longer natural rides now to build it up though so we'll see  :headbang:
