Random post of the day, "Dog Attack" what if?
« on: October 25, 2010, 06:55:25 PM »

I was slating away on a roof this afternoon when i heard an almighty commotion followed by a little old lady screaming and shouting in the street below"Help me, Help me." Over the top of the fenceI could just see the top of her head and her arms flailing about in the air, just through a gap in the fence i could see it was a staffy terrier that was terrorising her. `Fookin ell i thought as i rushed to her aid.
Turns out the little bastard had hold of her spaniel and wasn,t letting go. By the time i got down to street level two other fellas had pulled the dog away.
I must admit in the panick of thinking she was being attacked i had contemplated taking my Sthil saw down to the little bastard, which has me wondering, If the staffy were attacking her and i cut the bastard in two would i have been facing animal cruelty charges or excessive measures charges? :icon_scratch:

@ Magic1
well its a tricky one is that , first off you need to contemplate the total devastation of putting your Still saw though that dog,,there is going to be blood and gutts all over your saw, it could probably take all day to clean that shit of, plus all the furry bits will stick to the blade ......so for me a would just kick fuck out of the little bastard with a length of  3 x 2..........but thats a Joiner for you.................... [whistle]

nice to see an unbiased veiw of a dog there,no doubt the other dog was just minding it's own buisness and didn't start the fight at all.

Well, I guess the Spaniel probably looked at the staffie the rong way.  A rouge dog?  My sis in law has one and it is soft as a brush

Not biased at all mate, i was there , bits of the spaniel everywhere and the poor little chap ( who was still ON his lead being held by the lady) was shaking like a leaf whilst cowering behind me) as i watched the bull terrier twice its size straining on his "ain,t i hard studded collar whilst foaming at the mouth to get another attack in. A notoriously aggresive breed... FACT!

Just blame the recession.

Loads of places are halving  their staff these days & blaming the recession  & they don't seem to get into trouble for doing it...   :tongue3:

magic, did u see any events leading up to the point at which the staff attacked the other dog?
as you say all you heard was the noise so presume that you must of caught the commotion half way through?

who was the staffs owner and how was he or she acting?
what was the outcome? did the owners of both dogs at least talk about what had just happened?

Im with magic on this one. Dangerous dog breeds are a fucking menace. If you really must have a "look at me, I'm 'ard" dog, muzzle it and keep it on a lead!

Why do i feel like i should address you as "Your Honour" before giving my account? [rofl] It turns out the dog belonged to a builder who was working a couple of doors down. He lets the dog lie on a mattress on the back of his 4x4 which was parked up the drive of the property he was working on. Admittedly i didn,t see the initial attack but the lady said the terrier on seeing them walk passed made straight for them and attacked. I have no reason to disbelieve her. The builder was very apologetic and "Couldn,t understand it,as he,s never attacked before"
Before we get into a raging debate about which dogs are "Dangerous" and which ones aren,t all i,m saying is take on board the owners own words" He,s never done it before" thought provoking surely?
my original post wasn,t intended as a sweeping condemnation of a breed but just an enquiry as to "what if?" as a result of my actions, thats all. :icon_scratch:

The Staffords nickname is "The nanny dog" which means they are more protective of childrem. To say ban the breed for a twat of an owner is daft. I could write many a tale of my daily walks with my 2x Staffords over the last 8 years. (one about a Rotty owner who tried to make his dog attack mine in the park) I've lost count how many times Buster has been attacked by other dog breeds while he's always been on the lead. He was once attacked by a Yorkshire Terrier! which was piss funny because the old woman pulled her dog away and the little Yorky went mental and savaged her hands

Before anyone forms an opinion of the Staffordshire Bull Terrier breed, please speak to someone who has one :icon_thumleft:

biggest smile of day,cheers.

i do enjoyed reading mis-informed and ill-educated posts like this.

staffies are one of the softest, loyal+protective dogs around.i'm not even going to bother trying to defend them, any dog owner will tell you.

what you seem to be forgetting isthat any dog has the potential to do harm, but the main factor isnn't the breed but the owner,so before you go on your ill-educated,mis-informed mini rant, look at the owner not the dog.

cheers

What were your motives for choosing a dog that can so easily kill a child or another dog? You say they are protective. Thats fine for you but what of others? ALL dogs can pick up on fear and tension in others and can react aggressively towards it. The fact is that seeing a dangerous dog will cause fear and tension in a lot of people, especially mothers with small children, little old ladies walking spaniels etc. in much the same way as seeing someone walking down the street carrying a gun. Only the gun doesnt have a mind of its own! We dont have the right to carry firearms in the street. What gives you the right to keep a weapon on a lead?

Hi Scooby you really didn,t have to insult my intelligence with the last statement, i had already gathered from your general response that you were in fact an owner of this breed, what,s with the hostility? :icon_scratch: have you thought it possible you have a rose tinted view on this matter? i wasn,t ill informed or ranting ban the breed, i was there and witnessed the scene thats all. "Blame the owners" you say, well here is the dilemma for you, if you were have asked that owner yesterday "what temperament was his dog?" the answer would have come back "He,s harmless" but  ask him the same question today and his answer will be different, he did seem genuinely shocked himself and by his own admission  said"he,s never done this before". Bit scary i think
