my track project.
« on: October 03, 2010, 05:27:27 PM »

Decided to have a go at some spraying last week. So went and bought a large compressor couple of paint guns and and read up as much as i could about painting. (The forum has some good advise if you use the "search" button. :icon_thumright:
Spent the first week getting old paint off, filling and rubbing down which was a real chore as i didnt have an orbital sander. Took the tank back to bare steel (didnt get any photos at this stage) the hardest single piece proved to be the front mudguard which had about 4 different layers on it.
The photo sequence shows the work in progression, the first showing panels primed then  later painted in the base color.
Gave it 3 coats of white then flattened everything off ready for top color. Next pic shows panels masked off ready 4 top color.
Gave them all 3 coats of blue then again flattened everything off.
The next job i actually really enjoyed, applying the graphics ( took me back to my Airfix days).
Got a trackday booked next week so time was against me otherwise i would have painted all the black borders on myself instead of cheating & using pinstripe.
All thats left 2 do is apply clearcote then build bike back up ready for Anglesey at weekend. Post piccies when done! :icon_thumright:
