You need to get bike MOT'd the examiner will give you your MOT with an advisory note "Tested without lights fitted" this is a "Daytime Mot"

i think I'm right in saying that you also have to make sure you don't have a brake light, or its classed as having a light and they would then all be expected to be fitted and working.  I guess that applies to indicators as well.

I have brake light fitted for my own safety, but come my MOT I put tape over it. As rules are in MOT if fitted they have to work. Now even though my examiner knows I have a brake light, he is not allowed to remove or move anything on bike so "If he can not see it then it is not fitted!" now I know this is f***ing stupid and examiner says same, but rules are rules. Now to disperse another myth. Switch gear does not fail you, does not matter if fitted or not. As long as you have no indicators then your ok.

Ps. you do not need mirrors.

some people like to be reckless cause they think it makes them cool and other small minded people will be in awe of them.

horse. I'm sure if you get pulled by the feds, have a daytime mot, and have a brake light fitted, which is not covered up, and is working, you run the risk of getting nicked for not having other  lights fitted and maybe even not having a valid mot.

Have been stopped a few times and nothing has been said, have had more probs before I fitted Brake light.

Maybe you were lucky, I'm sure its not legal, i think gixxerboy99, from this forum, is quite clued up on this,  maybe he could throw some light on this. Its good to know where you stand, just in case.  Must admit I'm a bit puzzled by the daytime mot and why they have it.

I test 1,2,4,5,7 its the same for all classes with regards day time mot, there's actually i no such thing as a day time mot, its the same certificate, the only difference is its an advisory just to say:- At the time of test no light were fitted, what happends after the test is nothing to do with Tester. The only time the police will tug you is if you have lights and some of them (ie car one headlamp inop) dont work or your out after lighting up time without any fitted. if you have day time mot you cant have any lamps fitted for test and mirrors are not testable only if fitted and have sharp edges.

Just finished putting track farings on mine and was going to get a "daytime" mot, my bike is on an 08 plate and not due an mot until mid 2011.

My question is, do I need to get an mot now to cover me for daylight use, I am guessing I would as I've changed the bike and removed the lights, or does the fact it's not due for an mot untill next year mean I dont need it done until then.
