Shite testing more like

A study by a Birmingham university professor into SHARP's methods and results concluded that the whole thing had been botched, and badly.

There's actually not a whole lot wrong with the current ECE2205 test which all UK helmets must pass to be road legal, and many top level helmets pass the much more stringent SNELL tests. Very few if any of the budget helmets on the market would pass the SNELL test yet somehow manage to get high SHARP ratings.

A diving bell helmet would cream the SHARP tests but does that make it a good motorbike helmet?

Stick to the good brands and get a helmet properly fitted and you'll not go wrong.  :icon_thumright:

How highly do you guys regard these "safety tests" when buying a lid? I may be wrong but i would imagine most people would go for comfort and fit as the main decider. I,ve never bought a lid on the strength of it,s safety test results.

I bough a cheap helmet once and it split in half in a 30Mph accident, since then I have stuck buy the principle that you can't put a price on your head, hence why I only use Arai RX7s now.

Don't get me wrong AGV and Shoei are great brands too, but I am an Arai man

Sorry to disappoint you, but if you've got a std RX-7 Arai, you are now wearing a cheap helmet:

All those MotoGp,WSB,BSB,WSS,MOTO2 riders must be wrong about their Arai's then :icon_scratch: get a cheap sharp rated helmet and it could bring down the cost of racing :tongue3: Until then though I'll keep my Arai's  :icon_thumright:

Gold ACU sticker ain't worth jack, as long as the helmet pass the test it will get one, an Arai (or any other top brand) would pass the test 10 times over.

The Helmet was a Takachi and I am lead to believe is made by the same people that make Nitro lids.
