Dale, im def with you on that one, i sure as hell wouldnt want the responsibility of sorting it out. I know its a bike forum but just how much can you say about bikes? I do love to talk a bit of random shit from time to time.

John, i would love to meet up for a trackday, Donington maybe? Its gonna have to be next year for me now tho i reckon. Busy preparing for my India ride and dont get back from that 'til 2nd week in November.

I'm sure the powers that be do, or have  discussed this,  at some time , just as all of you have here. I'm also sure they have lots more information / statistics to hand to help them come to a decision.

I cant see licensing stopping anything,  and banning certain  types of dogs seems unfair to me. I agree with banning the breeding of dogs for fighting, but that's a separate issue, they aren't pets like most of us have.

How far do they go to 100% guarantee a kid doesn't get attacked or bitten by a dog ? only solution would be to ban all dogs, that would be a shame.

Bikers are licensed, that doesn't stop a kid getting hurt by a zx10r, and I'm sure at some time a kid has been hurt by a bike. If this discussion was on a dog owners forum, about a kid hurt by a biker, I'm sure all the same sort of comments would have been made there, would you agree with some of the above if that was applied  to you, as a zx10r owner ????  i think not  as that would equally be unfair.

May be the answer is  to muzzle all dogs and keep them on leads when their out and to restrict all bikes to 100 bhp ! although i doubt that would prevent a kid being hurt by a bike !

The point I was making about this being a bike forum Jamma, is that we are discussing a topic that has some very strong opinions, and which affects a lot of people, enough for it to be a subject of great debate on a site that has nothing to do with dogs.   I think its good that these things are talked about, no matter where.
