Just KEEP your photocard and tell them you've lost it, there's a section on the form for this, then when you get your new one you have proof of your categories if there are any missing.

 Simples !

That's what I did.  :icon_thumleft:

Belt and braces approach every time David.

If you assume that if it can go wrong, it will go wrong....and make plans to accommodate that, you will be in a position to sort it to your satisfaction ;)

Saying that - it looks like the w@nkers at the DVLA have just lost my personal reg renewal (it was on retention) and so I will lose my number..... I made the mistake of sending the original certificate back to them this year, previously I'd claimed I had lost that....

Well I think I'll  keep the photo card part, say it was lost and keep that as proof . Thanks for all the advice guys :icon_thumright:
One other thing which puzzels me though is that I have part exed two vehicles recently (bike & car)  from garages, filled in and sent all the relevant info
on the log book back to the DVLA  , the garage also filled in their part too.   Then in time got the new log book back.  But then have received  letters from the DVLA asking if I still own the original vehicle I part exed?  and then  asked for me in writing to submit all the details again, times ,dates and adresses etc....surely these forms go onto a central computer and should be pretty much foolproof , is it me or are the DVLA really that incompetent   [wall]

I have to agree the best way is to,

'The ONLY sure way is to retain your current licence, claim it is lost and wait for the replacement to come through.'
