Dogtags
« on: July 04, 2010, 05:39:18 PM »

After a recent event out on the bikes, one of the guys had to be taken to hospital for medical treatment in holland

He has around his neck a "dogtag" with personal and medical info (he was alergic to penacillan)

and i thought to myself what a very damn good  idea

so who has them? or equivilent sort of thing?

and if i could get a forum deal on dogtags stamped for a price who would be interested?

cheers all

thought about that, untill bunny told me the NHS has all usb slots disabled in their PC's

and also my own thought was the usb stick is only usefull if someone at the time has a computer, if its emergancy services possibly they wont

the dog tags are instant readable information  :dontknow:

I used to have a dog tag that was made at local pet store. I got very weird looks as i asked for my blood group to be engraved.

I now have Berik leathers and they have a card in the flap behind the zip on which you can write emergency details.

As for emergency services reading usb tags dont know about the rest of the country but in leiceststershire fire service we cant and i've just called a few mates in the emergency services. Notts and Derbyshire fire services Cant. I dont think Warwickshire fire service can. East mids Ambulance service cant and my paramedic friend seems to think that West mids ambulance service cant either. I've asked them to double check with their services to confirm and also to check further afield.  I will post any news as soon as they get back to me.

Like I said, there may be some services that are able to read USB sticks but some can not and I know the majority of NHS computers have restrictions on USB slots.... (before anyone questions this, I am an NHS IT Consultant so I do this for a fact).

Personally, I like the idea of a simple tag with basic details on that can be read instantly.  Name, DOB, Blood Group, Emergency Contact etc...

Gonna have a look see what is around...
