Guys, the time (and nearly the funds!) has come to go for a litre sports bike. Given my membership here and my Green heritage on two wheels the obvious choice is the ZX10R. So off I pop down to GT Motorcycles in Plymouth. Imagine my horror when getting on the 06 10 they have down there when I cramped up on the top of my thighs just sitting on the upright bike in the shop!
I have a 2000 ZX6R (J1) which means I am used to a big bike. I am only 5'9'' and weigh in around 13 stone so medium build (not thin or fat). I've seen numerous 6ft and larger/longer people riding newish litre sports bikes so how come?? I took the more comfortable 04 fireblade out for a test ride which sold me on upgrading to a litre bike, but am gutted about what happened when i got on the 10R. I have decided to take it out for a test ride, just in case it was a freak reaction.
So the question is: are there rearsets out there to reduce the height of the pegs (or more importantly the height and acute bend of my knees compared with my hips) which is causing the problem. Next is there a more comfortable riding position in a particular gen of the 10R? Help!!
I should point out that my current job has me working night shifts in an office environment and I got on the 10R and test rode the fireblade after completing a 15 hour shift.
Cheers,
Julie
