This is probably old news to some however .......
I had my bike in mcn a while back and it was on their website for i think 5/6 weeks or so after the paper ad expired , recived an email from a fella regarding my bike
really liked it etc wanted to make an offer .
He wanted to use pay pal to pay for the bike (in his words safer for him and me ) and would arrange a courier to collect the bike once i had the funds in my pay pal acc, and very eager to do the deal.
Being a suspicious git i felt from the start that this sounded dodgy , so talked to a few mates who had used pay pal for fairly large amounts of money after selling & buying stuff , no problem i'm told.
Still not convinced i called pay pal customer support to check if it went tits up would i be covered , (meanwhile another email arrives asking for my pay pal addr so the funds can be transferred).
After explaining to the girl it was a motor bike i was told the following -
There is no buyer or seller protection offered by pay pal on motor vehicles - If i recieved the money then transferd it to my bank the buyer would still have 180 days to request the return of the funds via pay pal , pay pal would then return the funds to the buyer ( from them selves not my acc ) then come after me to pay them back !
Leaving me with no bike and no money bare in mind this could easily be a month or so down the line when everything seems to have gone fine hassle free ( money spent ,new bike etc ).
so beware these fookers will try any angle to get your bike, still got my bike and still smiling for the price of a phone call !
