Running Pirelli super corsa BSB tyres?
« on: June 13, 2010, 10:36:33 AM »

Strongly suggest you take a look at this thread about a potentially dangerous problem some people appear to have experienced with them :

Probably just a duff batch, but worth giving them a check over just in case.

hmm well like a lot of posts on that forum say, not exactly a touring tyre eh, i'd of thought 3.5k miles was bloody good tbh. If I got 3.5k from my rear 2ct the fooker would be down to the rim, never mind the metal banding  :tongue3:

This was my OE dunlop after 1800 miles. I just couldn't resist winding it on at every opportunity when I first got the bike. I still can't to be honest but I do try to resist. [whistle]

I would think the Pirelli BSB's would be the same if they were treated the same way.

May be the guy lost a balance weight or something????

Exactly, I don't know what all the fuss is about, I mean can you imagine putting another 2k miles on that tyre ?

The OE qualifer on my Blade looked justa s bad at 1800 mile, but I was 250 miles from home. so at 2050 it was well shagged. Racetecs for me, I love em.

The  point of my posting wasn't about the life expectancy of the tyre, it's the fact that the wear isn't anywhere near constant  around the whole circumference of the tyre.

I've run plenty of tyres down myself over the years, but it's always been bloody obvious they need replacing no matter which part of the tyre you look at, seems these can look like they're still  good to go if you look at the wheel when the bike is parked up, but there could be a bit  down to the cords out of view under the hugger or on the floor at the time.

Yeah i get what you mean, but you know when there getting low on tread, it doesn't take 5 mins to put it on the stand & give it a spin eh.

Hi Guys

My supercorsa BSBs are holding up well so far

about 2,500 miles and still got plenty of tread left which is more miles than i got from the corsa IIIs.

just starting to square off as i have done a fair bit of A14 riding in the last few weeks but not whitelining yet so not too worried
Regards

It was a good heads up pat and you are right about the wear being uneven. Thing is thats how they go IME it never seems to be even when they start to wear out. I think they are a good tyre ( most are nowadays ) but people have to remember to check them after a every ride. I do every time, just a habit now, same as cleaning and re lubeing the chain as soon as I get home. He must have realised the tyre would only just do the trip, surely?

I dunno, Pirelli might come back and hold their hands up and say it's a manufacturing fault, but I doubt it.
