sod that imagine trying to watch two things at once even if you didnt want xto youd allways be looking,, we ride bikes because we have aquired the skills too. might change my mind down the line but right now we have enough to worry about!!!

Not Necessarily.

Did anyone else play games like TOCA, Gran Turismo, Race Driver GRID etc...?

When I was playing those games I would use the 'camera mounted on the front bumper' view. This gave me a constant rear view across the top of the screen for me to glance at if needs be.

When driving a car or riding a bike you always have your mirrors in your peripheral vision, showing the world fly by - but none of these have ever been a distraction for me.

I am sceptical about one thing though. Wouldn't your helmet have to remain straight and at a good height in order to see behind you? I.e. If you were tucked down behind your screen on the motorway, pretending you're Rossi...would you not just see sky and the occasional bridge?

The dude that invented this lives down the street from me, the road you see in the pics is my main road. To give you an idea of how old, those pictures were taken around 10 years ago and thats when i remember the helmet being covered before in the press!

so why have they taken so long to be manufactured?

Because hes spent over 7 years perfecting it before its gone into being manufactured.

Heres a link back to it beign covered in 2005, but theres even earlier ones: http://www.engadget.com/2005/11/21/reevu-msx1-motorcycle-helmet-with-rear-view-mirror/

He doesnt live down the road anymore, he may of even sold it on to someone else. Wouldnt mind a shot of one though ,as its a great idea. As you pass a good looking woman, you`ll not only get the front shot, but be able to almost safely check out the ass as well!  :headbang:

Hense the reason I included real cars, bikes and mirrors.

If a rear view mirror isn't a distraction in a car, I see no reason why this would be a distraction on a bike.

I think it's a matter of preference though TBH - some people will like these, some people won't :)

the problem with the design is from bright lights behind or indeed a low sun  :-/

I love the idea but practically it's an accident waiting to happen in my opinion  :-S

Fair point there.
If the question is "Why" then do we need an answer?

Yeah, until it starts to follow you at speed and turns on its blue flashing lights! Might be worth it just to make sure you don't have a tail and would be easier than checking your mirrors at speed, specially if they are small mirrors and/or vibrate at speed.
