hmmm...Guy Martin uses them and he's quite a good road rider?

posted thread because i wondered if it might be better to focus more on a marker over a known road, quiet mid-week with decent conditions.

looking too far forward just fcuked up my line (in my lane) on a long RH sweeper

.....and just back right off if i cant see through turn after hitting marker if there is a truck coming other way.

nailing a corner is ace and i want to do it better

dont back off if u see a truck coming, ur speed should antisipate a truck coming, then if there isnt one coming and you can see your exit, wind it back to the stop and enjoy, better slower in till you have assessed the hazards (do change !! braking markers are only used for flat out riding on the absolute limit and leave next to no time for the unexpected)
.
better a bit slower in and fast as fuck out than fast in and ambulance out the bend all the way to the hospital !!

one other thing about marker points - as bez above said.. slow in fast out is often the secret to a decent buzz/safety balance but I still use markers for this, they are just further from the corner and give me more time.

All this talk of 'braking markers' on the road is nonsense!!

I've ridden at a respectable level for some years now, the last 5 of them on zx10's and it's never even entered my head to use a set point to brake whilst on my ususal routes.

Road positioning, controlled/effcient braking (if needed), correct gear, good throttle control, body position, and looking where you want to go is the fundemental basics of road riding/quick and safe cornering.

Don't get mixxed up with track and road riding techniques.

As another member pointed out 4 years isn't a big deal on a sportsbike and we're all still learning everytime we turn the key.
It sounds like some advanced training would benefit you greatly.
