Newbie intro
« on: May 12, 2010, 07:44:52 PM »

Hey all,

I'm Iain or "Julie" from Gosport (tho' moving to Dartmouth at the beginning of June). I ride a 2000 ZX6R and got pointed in this direction by Hammy who came to pick up my sister in law's fridge from our place on Sunday. I am hoping to be in the market for an upgraded ride in the near future (nearly new 750 or 1000 sportsbike), so any advice gratefully received. My current 6R is my second bike in 9 years of riding and I'm looking to modernise. Without having been on any test rides I would like to know how I feel about keeping to an inline 4 or changing over to an inline 3 (Triumph Daytona 675) or even a V-twin (Aprilia RSV-R). I think I am going to keep away from Yammys because they have a reputation for throwing you off if you get it even slightly wrong, and I have heard that Suzukis tend to have electrical problems and build finish isn't the best. Obviously this is all assumption from what I've heard so any owner experience would be much appreciated. I work in Plymouth at the moment, week on week off, so would love to meet up for a rideout with anyone who is around - am working this week, off next week (Tuesday onwards). I have some J1 ZX6R stuff additional that I would be happy to donate to anyone who needs it, just ask!

Hi Iain, welcome and as for a new-ish bike you could choose from a 'Blade, ZX10R, R1 (they don't misbehave) and Suzuki's are reliable, it all depends on what takes 'your' fancy. Obviously you're asking advice from a ZX10R site but there are broadminded folk on here  :icon_thumright:
