Good news, what did you actually get it for in the end, and what caused you to get the enormous increase?

I had this some years ago, its because you let your policy lapse, I was with Bennetts (I think) let policy lapse for 6 months, they wouldnt  re insure me without an approved alarm and lock, even then the policy was more than doubled, I had been with them for three or four years previously but was told that as policy had lapsed I was classed as 'new business' .  the way round it is to insure your bike as off the road in storage, it costs very little but keeps your policy open and you wont be classed as new business once your ready for the road again.

I believe NCB is kept for a number of years after insurance ends or so i was told. I think 2 years is what they said but, it might not be right, can anyone confirm this ?
