Seat recovered - poor service so far
« on: April 26, 2010, 05:34:10 PM »

Hi All

has anyone on here any experience with Cauldfield Leathers

they have a good website and initial communication was ok, but I'd use that term lightly,
I have entrusted them with my ZX10R 09 seat  and they Stated a 2 day turnaround that was on 16th when I sent it, so far I have phoned 4 times, emailed them also and the response has been very poor without anybwoed of when I might receive the seat back,
so my bike is sat in the garage with no seat and no idea when it will turn up!!!

Personally I think the service so far has been very, very poor in respect of communication

Alrite mate
I used cauldfield leather about a year and half ago i bought a seat cover for my previous bike (GSXR) off ebay, i waited for 2 weeks and it still hadn't arrived i emailed the guy and i was told he hadn't been well (flu) after 3 weeks it arrived, To be honest the quality was good and it looked great after i fitted it so i forgave the waiting time, my dad took his seat to be recovered and left it with caulfield he waited about 8 weeks for it to be done but admitedly he told caulfield he was in no rush for it but 8 weeks is still a long time to wait, again the quality was excellent and the cover fitted well but the cover wasnt to exact specification but still looked good, my mate also used caulfield leather for his seat but wasnt very happy with it but blames himself as it was his own design.

All in All i think if i was using cauldfield leather again i would take my seat to them give them an exact seat cover i wanted and arrange a date to pick it up, if i lived to far away to do that then i would buy another seat off ebay and send that to be recovered so i could still have the use of my bike, i bought a second seat incase i knackered it coz i recovered my own witch turned out just as good after 5 hours and a whole lot of swearing lol [clap]

Cheers for the replies gents

phoned him 6 times tonight and he answered on the 7th.

Asked him what the problem was and he said he was on his own and very busy! I asked him about the so called 2 day turnaround to which he replied that cannot be relied upon depending on work commitments and he was doing a car that took priority!!!

He assured me it will be done tomorrow or Thursday and posted out, I shall not hold my breath as he promised it would be done and back to me for last week.

I'll keep you updated

Well, Received the seat today and on comparing to the last one I had done the quality of the stitching is very poor and uneven  [wall]

To say the service overall has been very poor is an understatement, it appears, when under any pressure his answer is to ignore the problem and if it persists, provide a rush job that looks cheap and tacky. Even though i asked in various calls/messages i left at no time was I advised as to what would look best in respect of the design I asked for. I agree that the material is as good as my previous seat but I am very disappointed in the positioning and overall look.

I shall tell him and no doubt leave it at that as I do not want to deal with Matt at Cauldfield Leathers any further.

Only hope the rest of you who choose to use him get a better service and finish.

My Blade seat is in there at the moment, price agreed, time scale, went to pick it up last week, not even started.

May well go and collect it before they do it. :crybaby2:

Cheers mate

I did get a reply from Wayne, but he can't do what i want for some reason, he has suggested the inlay be vinyl instead.

Its not what i want so will keep on searching.

I had my 52 plate R1 seat done and it was embroidered and it looked real good so that's what I am looking for.

Cheers for the replies lads

I post when I have an update.
