Dont mind getting a fine if i am acting like a tit but when you are doing 25 in a built up area just nipping to your mates round the corner when you get pulled by a overweight arragant person saying i am doing you for your exhaust then when i say its a road legal micron changes his mind and says well i will do you for your plate then its 4mm to small that does your head in also standing in the middle of farmers fields no houses or kids playing in a national speed limit with a camera that also does my head in also sat in a cafe not even riding the bikes someone starts giving fines for number plates also your kids cant walk to the shops at night because they will get tw*ted were are they then sat at home or sat in there cars they wont walk a round the streets problaly because they would much rather ride that bike to bike awareness days but it surprises me if any of them could get on that bike anyway why dont they have basic fitness like the good old army and if they cant run Fook them off then we would have fit arragant b*stards no forget the last

I think I can pick bits out of this paragraph. Was your plate too small? If so, then where is the argument? Whats the problem with a speed camera? If you're not speeding then there is nothing to worry about is there? May sound a little patronising, but not rocket science is it? As stated already, its all about taking responsibility for your own actions (I have to just like you). If you dont like the idea of getting a fine and/or point, then dont ride outside the law. Simple.  :icon_thumright:

Its all very well saying stick to the letter of the law but it would be nice for the police to use a little discretion in favour of the motorist now and again instead of having to keep up government statistics and targets. For instance, who are you gonna nick. a/ the "criminal" doing 80 on a clear motorway on a bright dry day or b/ the "law abiding citizen" doing 65 in 30 yard visibility pea soup fog.
The law may be black and white but right and wrong are shades of grey. An intelligent officer would let the "criminal" go on his way and have a quiet word with the "law abiding citizen". The speed camera can only pull in revenue from one of them!

Speed does not endanger life, inappropriate speed does. Fact.
Loud pipes do not endanger others.
Small plates do not harm anyone and speed cameras and traffic car cameras can read a neat little 5 by 2 plate as easily as they can the fuggin great billboards we are supposed to attach to our bikes.
We are persecuted because we are easy targets. Fox hunting is illegal but policing that would mean getting out of their nice warm volvos and maybe even getting their feet muddy. Taking class A drugs is illegal but thats a bit too tricky so lets just turn a blind eye.
Please, tell me if im wrong!

think the fact they are called TRAFFIC POLICE says it all really

you are arguing about the police stopping people for breaking goverment leglisation says alot

why not think about starting petitions against the goverment to get things changed rather than being the big keyboard warriors and trying to look big and clever slagging the police off

EDIT: Also if you cant refrain from typing offence langauge please dont post  :icon_thumright:

I'm a bit confused by the responses here to say the least  :icon_scratch:

I'm reading a bikesafe bike provided free to the police  to help to save lives and promote safety to bikers which surely is hugely positive  :headbang:

With regards to the comments regarding do a proper job etc get off yer soapboxes is my comment , we all know the laws and take calulated risks with small plates etc its not asthough we are caught by 'bent coppers' for laws that we are unaware of   [wall]

I could write a lot more but can't be arsed..........................

Each to their own....but rules is da rules. If they are enforced, then if you break em don't moan.  We all know that the police simply don't have enough man power to police everything so they do pick things that will be easier to enforce.  Unfortunately that can mean other crimes will go unnoticed.  We all do things like this in our day to day lives, we priortise based on knowledge, experience and more often that not, cost effectiveness.  So why should the police do any different....

I recently drove around with an illegal number plate, as it had incorrect spacing.  I purposely bought the plate, so I could do that....I went by for months and then got stopped twice in as many weeks. But did I sit there and try preaching to the police about how they should catch proper criminals or other people with even more illegal plates than mine?  No.  Because, you are never in the right as you've commited the offence in the first place.  No matter how trivial you "perceive" it be..  Simplez. So, I took the fine and changed my plate.   The coppers both times knew that is could have been worse, I wasn't speeding, drink driving, had a chavved up motor, bald tyres, illegal tints, but like they said.  The law is the law, and if someone didn't enforce any of it, we would have anarchy.

I would suggest this topic get locked as its a very contentious issue and will never get resolved.  We aren't gonna change the country, as much as we'd like to be able to, on a motorbike forum!  :dontknow:
