MTB North Wales - April 2010
« on: March 31, 2010, 09:31:10 PM »

as mad as a box of frogs, well you could say that  [rofl]

Pat came for his first ride tonight and was there any snow, oh yes lots of it  [rofl] [rofl]

I didn't take a camera but here's one of the start  from this afternoon to give an idea , in some places it was deep enough to stand the bike up in it  [whistle]

Well done Pat  :icon_thumright:  and keep the bike (I imagine that it feels like a stupid purchase at the moment   ) , give it another try and then another etc and it'll all come together, honest  ;-)

Well maybe a stupid purchase, but now I've got it I'd better use it or my name will be mud.

Where does SLX fit in the heirarchy these days Andy, i remember it used to be Alivio (??), STX, LX, XT.XTR, guess things have changed a bit

I recall that it's  Deore, LX, SLX, XT, Saint and XTR  yes Alivio and others sit at the bottom end

However, the latest SLX stuff seems to have out-performed XT in many reviews that I've readand other riders have said the same

The SLX crankset has a composite middle ring and the weight is almost the same as XT so it's far better value and a popular choice  :icon_thumright:

I have an XTR rear mech but it's part carbon and worn out already

The saint and XTR is significantly more expensive and of course lighter too but to me just isn't cost effective  :icon_thumright:
