I update mine through itunes all the time and I have a 3gS too

The only time you don't is if it is jailbroken on a previous baseband as the new updates will lock up the phone again.

Apple announced the new OS due to be release in a few months, version 4. It can be used on iPhone 3G, 3Gs, and iPod Touch.....tho multi-tasking will not work on 3G as it slows the unit down badly.

Yep...

The update to 3.1.3 came out about a month ago maybe a bit more.

Is your phone contract or jailbroken, as the new update will lock up jailbroken iPhones
