Confessions of a short girly biker
« on: March 29, 2010, 08:36:50 PM »

Saturday was not a good day - I dropped my bike  :crybaby2:  :crybaby2:  :crybaby2:  :crybaby2:

Absolutely gutted!!

I went for a ride to Southwold with a couple of friends and with my son on the back. Got him off, went to put side stand down, had stopped on a bit of road with camber, side stand is just too bloody long and would not kick out, leaned bike over further to right and ooops TOO FAR - bike on floor

fuck fuck fuckety fuck is what I said

picked it up with some help and now it has matching scratches on both sides (been dropped before i had it) nothing was actually broken, but the mirror and bar end are scraped along with the fairing and it hit the ground where there was a bit of engine casing bolt under it, so more of a lump on the fairing from the inside rather than a scrape.

Gutted gutted gutted, kicked myself several times

guy i was with was amazed i went and told everyone, but hey ho, what can ya do, shit happens

i think even more sickening then dropping it is the feeling you get when you reach that point and you know its going down and theres nothing you can do about it and instantly all the worst possible outcomes flash through your mind

Oh no...that sucks!

TBH, it doesn't really class as a Spill.  The fact the 06/07 sidestand is about as useful as Chocolate fire guard can't be avoided.  I nearly dropped mine in a garage forecourt the day I rode it back from the dealer and ended up putting a scratch in the tank about 10 inches long trying to save it. So I feel you pain.

I am sure in future you will be more than aware of any camber when you next put the bike down.  I had my side stand and don't trust it at all, even in my 100% flat garage.

Nothing major and other than ego, a few minor scratches.  If you want em spraying speak to the Asthmatic Pit Pony, he'll sort you out!!
