Google Streetview
« on: March 20, 2010, 12:06:28 PM »

Just discovered Google Streetview, I know im a bit slow there but does anyone else think its a bit worrying security wise?  I found my house and was able to zoom in on my garage door to such an extent that I could see the locks.  Cant help but think that those with sticky fingers will be using this to scope out potential targets.  I think that it should be available to subscribers only and what you look at should be logged, in the event of someone getting turned over the police should have access to who has looked at that property.  Probably me just being paranoid but its hard not to be these days

That was one of the big concerns about street view, If you really have a problem as far as I know you can get your house/property taken off  the map. Don't know if anyone has though.  I'm actually standing outside my house pointing at the camera car

To be honest....first time I've looked in ages and finally have my street on it....

Must have been summer last year when they took the picture...as weather is good and my car looks brand new and clean ;-)

Personally...doesn't bother me...number plates are blanked out and think too many people worry about information that is publicly available. When we move house I will be using StreetView to see any houses and what the street is like.  I think its a good thing.

My street went up recently and the pics are almost 2 years old,  I figured it was taken when I was on holiday as half the cars on the road are no longer here now.

I was watching a documentary on people who grow cannabis and the police used streetview in decisions on weather the houses were hot/high risk or not.

I'd have thought the aerial view was of more use to burglars, check out exits, blind spots, quick escape routes, etc.
