Can anyone recommend Cheap insurance for 10R including MODS
« on: February 09, 2010, 07:30:59 AM »

Hi there, as the title says, lots of people on here have modded bikes, can those that have actually declared mods to their insurers & got good quotes please HELP {am not talking about mods they can't see; like engine work etc, just the visible stuff}
Am having little success at moment, NCI had the neck to say they would cover me fully comp in all regards, except they would only pay out for standard parts in the case of an accident, but would pay out full amount {i.e. including mods} for theft.  :icon_scratch:
Thx in advance

I use Ebike mate - I have a list of modifications and alterations as long as your arm - it costs me very little extra. Every single item is declared on mine - right down to the gel seats cos you cannot be too careful with insurers baulking a claim or trying to pay you out less than a bike may be really worth.....

The big plus with Ebike is that cos it's all done online - you can add and subtract any modifications at your leisure - see what difference if any it makes to the premium and either leave them there - or pull them as you wish.

The premiums (for me at least) have always been very keen as well.

You can have more than one bike on a policy and more than one rider in case you need to have someone else ride yours for any reason. The one drawback is that it will not cover you to ride anything other than the named bikes ......

Thanks Charlie, I didn't know of an online site where you can declare every item, as stated, if the insurers can get out of paying they will & IMHO its worth the extra for the peace or mind.
Will keep you posted as to how I get on.
Have some BHP as well.
Cheers mate

So what mods do you all declare?
PCIII?
Air Filter?
Rear Sets?
Gear Indicator?

What about the Akky cans, even if they were supplied with the bike and are genuine Kawasaki part?  For instance..I haven't, just made me think I should?

Alledgedly, some guys don't declare mods, and then if crashed, strip the bike before the assessors arrive?!?!?

Oh...I find Ebike expensive now.  Compared to the others....and I do use the Search Engines.  Bennetts are normally competitive too.  :headbang:

Oh....just had a thought!!  We should approach an insurer and see if they will give discount for being a member of the zx10r.co.uk!?!

A Plan give lots of discounts for car clubs (for cage insurance) and do know that a lot of insurance cars ask if your a member of any owners club. Which we technically are :-)
