I had a look at the new Z1000 on saturday, my 10 was in for it's first mot, and it's a bit off an oddity.  There's mounting points and bosses on the headstock for what looks like a steering damper mount, that they must have decided not to fit, and there's an odd casting on the rear brake mount as if it was meant to have ABS.  There's a valve on the exhaust, probably to pass the drive-by test, but only on the offside pipe.  I don't think the pillion seat will stay luminous white for long either.  I like the idea of pillion grabs built into the undertray though, very discrete, but they may fill with crap off the rear wheel.  Fit a tail-tidy and a pair of Akkys and it will look brilliant, I'm quite tempted.

remember the new zed is 1043cc so has loads of grunt, regards the abs the US bike has it but the UK dose`nt, hence the bracket but no sensor. But abs is for homo`s anyway

It makes the bike look a bit unfinished, with the rear caliper being under the swinging arm, the mounting points for the abs are the bits you see.  When you park the bike on the sidestand the mounting points for a steering damper are what you see, I think they could have put a couple of blanking plates on to clean up the visuals.

Hi Slapknacker

StarWars My Arse!  ;-)

I wish i had kept my Z1000 as a second bike as it did almost everything as well as my new 10R does
(but i did twiddle it a little bit)
ZX9 R Cams, my own Flowed Head, Full Akra,ZX6RR Forks with Ohlins 20mm carts etc etc
was blinding for a nekkid
143 @ rear hoop too so not as slow as people think
Mate had a 57 reg Speed triple and didn't get on with it as the optional flyscreen is crap above about 80 mph
and the rest looked abit of an afterthought (Nice grunty engine though) :icon_thumright:

Regards
Rick
I miss my Baby lots
Cadwell Park Inters 29th June 09 (sorry don't do kneedown but ride round the outside of those that do :icon_thumleft:)

Sweet bike mate. Im the same as you when it comes to kneedown. Cant do it to save me life. Last trackday at Donny, Fast group, i was prob in the top six or seven, still got the same sliders i bought for my first ever trackday. Only time they ever touch the ground is when i check my oil! [rofl]

Hi Jamma

I did touch my right knee slider at the hairpin & on the way into Barn corner but on Proper Supercorsas F sc1 Rsc2 there was no need at the speed i was lapping

I have no idea why so many people are more intent at kneedown than going quick as  I passed many that day that where scraping their knees on almost every corner
I know why it's important in Racing but it's just a waste of cornering speed when your struggling to get 1:50 round Cadwell on a warm dry day

think my best was approx 1:53-1:55 from a mates on bike video which was quick enough for me on a naked streetbike

There was a Blue C model 10R in front of me that i almost caught until some wazzuck on a Grey ZX6R which his mirrors still on almost took me out on the enrance to the left just before the mountain
as he was transfixed on where i was going around the outside he just sat up and pushed me off (i didn't bin and rejoined the track) :-O

My style or lack of style is just a nice relaxed position with a light grip on the bars as my throttle use is a bit too triggerish so i have to avoid gripping too hard as it upsets the bike and scares me shitless when it slaps (no damper)
I have done CSSS part 1 & 2 but still don't knee down as it doesn't fell natural still.
My Mate on his ZXR400 needs arse sliders he hangs off so far! :headbang:

Regards
Rick
