Ipods and motorbikes
« on: February 21, 2010, 08:31:39 AM »

Right am doing the germany trip again in june and after last years efforts of listening to myself sing (badly) for hours on end im wanting to add some music capability to my kit

So, without fitting the full fandangled kit for motorbikes (starcom etc) what can i use to add some speakers to my lid?

want to keep my ear plugs in too as the wind noise for hours on will hurt  :icon_thumright:

cheers

l like my Cardo Scarla Rider  Q2 headset, its bike to bike intercom if you know anyone else with one or bluetooths to your phone/sat nav. it also has a built in fm radio and the new ones have a plug for your ipod to connect.

No wiring at all is required the mic and earphones clip to the side of your crash helmet and the bluetooth device mounts on the bracket. holds charge well all day but needs charging at night as its not wired to bike

try sennheiser earphones.

bluetooth headsets a good idea too if you want to use a sat nav or a phone too.

You can get the speakers that fit inside the liner like I have Chris but plug into the Ipod/mp3 instead.
The Starcom is good theough as the amplifier boosts it way more than the Ipod ever will with earplugs in.

Nice find Hammy, will they be loud enough through an ipod if you have earplugs in?

Shure make some of the best ear plug/ speakers. Professiona  sound quality and they block wind noise enough to use them without music. The silicone ear buds are washable and replaceable. I have the E2c model but they are a few years old now and have been superceeded by newer models.

I do often listen to my Ipod whilst riding, but only on a commute rather than a hoon.

But I find ANY earphones uncomfortable after a long time...

I tried last year and the earphones hurt like f**k after an hour or so which wasn't good.  But then again, so did my moulded earplugs.  I reckon I need to get a new set, and then may get the ones with the earphones built in.  Expensive but could be worth it.  Maybe I am just not suited.

Those helment speakers look quite good Hammy...may get a set.  Cheap too?  But is that a good thing?

Would love a Starcom unit, so I can plug phone/ipod  in etc.  That would be cool.  Hey Chris...bike to bike would be funny ;-)

Maybe not ideal, but I did a trip to Germany in 08 and used Sennheiser ear phones, but not all the time. So I'd do a sint between fill ups with ear plugs, then the next stint with the Ipod.  Meant I didnt sing the same songs to myself all the time.
