People carrier Vs ZX10R
« on: February 11, 2010, 11:02:14 AM »

Not been on for a few weeks guys. Just thought I'd inform you about a little accident I had yesterday.

HERE's the road/junction where it happenned.

The driver stopped at the junction, positioning his vehicle in a manner that was suggesting his intentions were to turn right. I pulled up behind him leaving a gap between us of about 6ft. He then put the vehicle in reverse and shot backwards, towards me, resulting in a collision between both vehicles.

It happenned so quickly and without warning that I had no time to even sound my horn. As for the bike, I've taken some pictures to note where there's damage that wasn't there beforehand.

The chap in the car was a genuine bloke who is also a biker. He's sorted everything out with his insurance company who've admitted full liability and have arranged with myself to collect the bike and drop off a replacement. I managed to get another sportsbike off them, they're giving me a Suzuki GSXR-750 Sheene replica. Can't say I'm ecstatic but it's better than a Blandit. I should be taking delivery of it early this afternoon :)

Hopefully it'll be back swiftly!

Sorry to hear it mate, but glad it's come out the way it has, could've been worse I suppose.  Did you get hurt in the incident, or manage to jump off it?

Damn that's annoying.  What was his reason for reversing ??? and not seeing you ?.  Being a biker he should have known better...checking behind etc.  Hope your bike comes back all new and shiny soon dude. :icon_thumright:

Shit happens sometimes - we all make mistakes, the main thing is you are OK and the bike is being sorted without trauma.  :icon_thumright:

Gutted for ya mate, hope it comes back soon

You are lucky there isn't gonna be any hassle claiming on his insurance, some insurance companies will deny responsibility regardless of what their policy holder says, they just like to drag it out and fight.

I got thrown from the bike slightly but managed to stay on my feet. In the process I've landed awkward and managed to get a little discomfort in my thigh and there's a little swelling around the knee.

As for the reason behind the guy reversing, have any of you heard of the Liverpool 'ducks'?

The guy works for the company who operates them. The road I was travelling down was were the 'ducks' get maintenance work done. I passed the premises and heard two lads shout/whistle at me (usual stuff people do when they see a good looking bike :P). When I've got to the t-junction at the end, the guy reversed because he thought the lads were shouting at him to go back and obviously didn't realise I was behind him.

I've now got the GSXR750 and I hate it with a passion :( My ZX10 will be back as good as new. All genuine parts are being used to replace the damaged ones :)

Two reasons, 1. The handling is shocking. Hardly any feedback. Suspension seems to have the characteristics of a Bassett's Jelly Baby. I expect just like my 10R this will still have factory settings still in place. 2. Distinct lack of power. It's progressive but doesn't 'progress' quick enough. It just lags!

I just feel totally let down by the bike considering what people have told me about them in the past. Things like "you don't need more than a 750 cos you can't use all the extra power". Total load of bollocks. Pussies.

Don't forget, I am going from a 10R to this. I just can't wait to get my bike back now!
