ok so the trackbike scene is new to me but i want to know uf anyone has any advice on this. im looking at buying a 600 kwak but i firstly need to know is there anything i should avoid or because its gonna stay off the road it dosent really matter? ie. buying a bike withe frame numbers xxxxxxx out, no v5 and all that.
then is there anything i should or shouldnt do before getting to track?
i know it all sounds pretty routine to u guys but i value your opinions,,      cheers   colin

With a world of choice out there in trackbikes you seem to have overcome the first hurdle in deciding what CC and what manufacture of bike you want. with that in mind try to play the waiting game and compare a few, e.g choose wisely and for the same money you can get one with a few extras like wets on wheels, steering damper, rearsets already fitted. These extras break the bank when you buy one without them. Funny episode recently when forum member Chaos and myself both jumped in the van to pick up our trackbikes on the same day, for the same money he got a GSXR K1 and i got a 2003 zx6rr. His came with a support truck full of extras, clip-ons, levers, sprockets,rearsets,paddock stands, and brand new wets on wheels. mine came with a Haynes manual   ( which i needed `cos it was fooked   )
older series F and G series kwak 600,s  can be bought cheaply and wheels and spares are mega cheap. Happy hunting.

ok so do u think 1300 for a 2000 zx600 sounds fair comes with a few extra bits

Its worth going along to some trackdays near you.  It wont cost you to get into the circuit, and there are often bikes for sale.......at least you can see the bikes going round, and if they are any good.

I'm in the process of buying another track bike at the moment, hence the reason i am here, If you get the same style of bike that you have on the road, this saves you buying wheels for wets,

Old Kwaks are plentiful, new ones however are most definitely not. the gixers are always good trackbikes and a ready and knowledgable load of people are out there.

old R6's are also good and the old faithful CBR steelie.

beware of stolen bikes, there are several reasons why a frame has no numbers, but there is no good reason for an engine to have no numbers unless it has been stolen,

Some Cat B's even still come with frame and engine numbers, where otheres have neither. Cat C & D can even have the log book reapplied for,
