has anybody ridden the latest R1 ? i.e the cross pane crank one? ive def made my mind up to change the 10 and ive lined up test rides (weather permitting) on a 09 R1, 09  BLADE , and a 09 zx10,  i tested the tuono last week and ive talked myself out of it, although it was fun the lack of power would proberbly have me selling it again before summers out.
anyway any comments on the above are welcome

Wasn't there a problem with cam adjuster and them letting go ??

i have the engine is very good but there has been one or two issues with the odd one shitting it`s self,
personally i did`nt like the bike as after riding the zx10 the r1 feels massive!!!

I'd say wait until the ZX10R replacement is due, you've not mentioned any bike that I'd say was worth it's current price, bland or poor styling for starters.  I'd look towards something more exotic if I needed a new bike this year, try looking further up the Aprilia range, RSV4 looks better value.

I rode a mates brand spanking new R1,  30 miles after him collecting it from the dealer. It was sweet, felt really good. Strangest thing was adjusting to the engine sound, gives you the impression its not revving like it should be, when it is.

Definitely different and a proper new model for a change. Like the idea of the front forks, one leg does compression, the other rebound.

Not sure of his current mileage but is on his 3rd set of tyres and had no problems.

Am going to test ride a new blade in couple weeks, as I'm told they are very good, but I'm happy with my 10r, and will stick with that.

I have owned the 09 10 and now own the new R1. I am 6ft2 and 18 stone and the R1 is so much bigger and much more comfy, i get no wrist pain like i did on the 10. Don't get me wrong the 10 was good but the R1 is just more roomy for me.  I did think about the blade but that was also a bit on the small side.
